The Business Internet 5G service is a speed-based service, with a Fair Usage Policy. The Fair Usage Policy ensures that the Vodacom network is used in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the network so we can assure a great customer experience for all Vodacom customers, taking account of the services they purchase from Vodacom.
The FUP is applied by Vodacom to each relevant product and allowable FUP levels are dependent on various factors, including but not limited to network capacity, quantity of customers on the selected price plan and ongoing network quality.
The below table indicates the Fair Usage Policy applicable to the Business Internet 5G service:
BUSINESS INTERNET 5G | |||
---|---|---|---|
Product Description | Line Speed | Soft Cap FUP | Hard Cap FUP |
BI 5G 25mbps | Up to 25mbps for usage from 0GB-1TB | Usage from 1TB-1.5TB will be at a speed of up to 4mbps | From 1.5TB, hard lock imposed |
BI 5G 50mbps | Up to 50mbps for usage from 0GB-1TB | Usage from 1TB-1.5TB will be at a speed of up to 4mbps | From 1.5TB, hard lock imposed |

Once the customer has reached the FUP limit, browsing speed will be throttled to the speed indicated above, for a set additional allocation of data (Soft Cape FUP). Once the Soft Cap allocation has been reached, the customer will be subject to a Hard Lock and data usage shall no longer continue. Should the customer wish to continue usage, a Top Up data bundle may be purchased.
Business Internet 5G services are offered as two installation options - either as a self-installed, "plug-n-play" option, or a fully installed option.
The self-installed "plug-n-play" option requires the customer to plug the router into a power supply and insert the SIM card into the router. It's quick and easy to do, with an installation guide included in the box to aid understanding of the router function
The fully installed 5G service is taken care of by our team of provisioning engineers, who will arrange the installation directly with the customer. During this installation, the 5G receiver will be installed on the roof of the building, and a router will be set up inside the office at the customer's desired location, with adequate cabling to connect the two. A service test will be conducted prior to the team leaving the premises, to ensure the service is working as expected.
Business Internet 5G is a "best effort" service, meaning that the upload/download speeds achievable at any given time are dependent on a number of factors, including the number of users connected to base station at a point in time and the distance of the customer premises from the nearest Tower, for example. The maximum attainable speed depends on the service plan that the customer has subscribed to.
Should 5G signal strength drop or become unavailable at any point in time, the Service will fall back to LTE/4G browsing speeds.
