Vodacom Unlock Summer 2021

Vodacom (Pty) Ltd ("Vodacom") is running the Vodacom Unlock Summer ShakeOff Promotion ("the promotion"), where you stand a chance of winning your share of amazing prizes!

All participants during the term of the Competition agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions:

General

  1. The Vodacom Unlock Summer promotion will start on the 29th of October 2021 ("start date"), and it will run until the 6th of February 2022 ("end date").

  2. Vodacom reserves the right to change or extend the promotional period based on reasonable prior notice.

  3. Vodacom reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions and where such change is material, Vodacom shall provide its customers with reasonable prior written notice before implementing any such change.

Eligibility

  1. The Unlock Summer promotion is available to all Vodacom Prepaid, Top-Up and Contract customers, including those who activate a new SIM card on or port into the Vodacom network during the promotional period.

  2. Vodacom Business end users are also eligible to participate in the promotion. Any Vodacom Business end user who participates in the promotion shall obtain the required consent, where applicable, from the Vodacom Business account holder with whom it is employed by. The end user shall also comply with all policies it is subject to by virtue of its employment by the Vodacom Business account holder. Vodacom shall not engage in any dispute between the end user and the Vodacom Business account holder and where such dispute arises, the end-user holds Vodacom harmless and indemnifies Vodacom accordingly.

  3. Vodacom Business customers purchasing any products or services by either adding to bill or via credit card are eligible for rewards.

  4. The following customers are excluded from participating in the promotion:

    • All Machine to Machine (M2M)

    • EVB and EDB Packages

    • APN SIM cards

    • Community services SIMs / phone numbers

    • Bulk SMS applications are not permitted to participate in the Promotion

    • A non-customer SIM is an application that uses a SIM card to send SMSs in volumes not possible by a natural person

  5. Vodacom reserves the right to disconnect and suspend the service of non-customer SIMs and non-compliant devices (as specified by the regulating body ICASA) that are being used on the Vodacom network for the purposes of the promotion.

  6. Vodacom protects participants' personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act.

Participation

  1. You can join the promotion at any time throughout its duration.

  2. To participate in the Unlock Summer promotion, you will need to opt in via one of the following channels:

    • My Vodacom App

    • VodaPay 2.0 App

    • USSD (by dialing *133#)

    • WhatsApp (by messaging "Shake Up" to 082 009 8624)

  3. By opting into the Unlock Summer promotion, you will also be opted into the VodaBucks Loyalty Programme and will enjoy all the benefits of the Vodacom Loyalty Programme.

  4. You are only required to opt in once in order to participate in the promotion. You will be able to play the Daily Free Unlock Summer game, but will not be able to redeem prizes, earn VodaBucks or play Mega Unlock Games games until you have opted in to the promotion.

  5. By opting into the promotion, you provide Vodacom with permission to monitor your behaviours in order to reward you with VodaBucks for goals completed and provide personalised offers. Vodacom protects your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act.

  6. You can opt out of the promotion at any time by selecting ‘opt out' option on the Unlock Summer menu/page on USSD, My Vodacom App, VodaPay 2.0 App, and WhatsApp).

  7. When opting out of the promotion, you:

    • Will no longer earn VodaBucks for completing goals

    • Will retain all VodaBucks collected as part of the promotion (but will not be able to use your VodaBucks in the VodaBucks Store or to play a Mega Unlock Games unless you are opted in)

    • Will retain all GSM and non-GSM rewards you've won through the promotion

    • Will retain any entries you have for the Grand Prize draw

    • Will still receive engagement communications regarding the promotion, unless you opt out of receiving SMSs for this promotion specifically

  8. This promotion will be accessible to customers while roaming, but any prizes won will only be available to use and redeem in South Africa.

  9. Customers may participate in any other Vodacom promotions running in conjunction with the promotion.

  10. You can only earn VodaBucks on goals that you have accepted.

Daily Free Unlock Summer Game

  1. You get one free Unlock Summer game every day that you can play to stand chance to win your share of prizes.

  2. You get a 2nd free Unlock Summer game on the My Vodacom App every day.

  3. You get a 3rd free Unlock Summer game on the VodaPay 2.0 every day.

  4. You will receive an SMS notification when your prize is allocated successfully.

  5. Playing daily free Unlock Summer games will be zero-rated (free) on USSD, the My Vodacom App and the VodaPay 2.0 App.

  6. Data usage for playing daily free Unlock Summer games on WhatsApp will not be zero-rated.

  7. Free daily Unlock Summer games expire at the end of each day (23:59 on day of allocation) if not played. They will not accumulate.

Upsize Your Prize

  1. You will be offered the ability to upsize some of your prizes by adding a bundle at a discounted price.

  2. Your prize will be allocated, regardless of whether you choose to upsize your prize or not.

Getting VodaBucks

  1. If you are on a Prepaid or Top Up price plan, you will get one VodaBuck for everytime you recharge with  airtime.

  2. If you are on a Postpaid price plan, you will get VodaBucks when you buy Just 4 You bundles

  3. Every customer (Prepaid, Top Up and Contract) participating in the promotion will receive one personalized goal to complete to earn VodaBucks.

  4. You can add one additional personalized goal at a time. You will need to complete this goal or wait for it to expire before you can add another personalized goal.

  5. Once you have completed your personalized goal to earn VodaBucks, another goal will be unlocked that you can perform in order to earn more VodaBucks.

  6. Earned VodaBucks will not expire and will accumulate and be available for use until the end of the promotion.

  7. You will receive VodaBucks on the MSISDN that you used to performed the goal (Master accounts will not receive VodaBucks earned by child accounts).

  8. When buying or recharging for another MSISDN, VodaBucks will be allocated to the MSISDN that received the recharge/bundle.

  9. VodaBucks cannot be transferred to another customer.

  10. VodaBucks cannot be redeemed for cash, airtime or any other Vodacom products, services or rewards (with the exception of spending it in the VodaBucks Store on the My Vodacom App).

  11. Customers can access their VodaBucks balance and use their VodaBucks to play Shake games via any of the participating channels, regardless of which channel the VodaBucks were earned through.

  12. For certain goals, VodaBucks will be allocated in real-time, immediately after a qualifying goal was completed where possible.

  13. For certain goals, VodaBucks will be not allocated in real-time, this will be indicated to you where applicable.

  14. VodaBucks are only valid for the period of the promotion and shall automatically expire when the promotion comes to an end.

  15. You will be able to view your VodaBucks balance via the following channels:

    • USSD (*133#)

    • Vodacom Online (My Vodacom App, portal and mobisite)

    • Whatsapp (082 009 8624)

  16. You will retain your VodaBucks when you migrate to a different price plan, but you will need to opt back into the promotion in order to access, use or earn more VodaBucks.

  17. When migrating to a different price plan, you will be opted out of the promotion and you:

    • Will no longer earn VodaBucks for completing goals

    • Will retain all VodaBucks collected as part of the promotion (but will not be able to use your VodaBucks in the VodaBucks Store or to play a Mega Unlock Game unless you opt back in)

    • Will retain all GSM and non-GSM rewards you've won through the promotion

    • Will retain any entries you have for the Grand Prize draw

    • Will still receive engagement communications regarding the promotion, unless you opt out of receiving SMSs for this promotion specifically

  18. When you add a new Red Price Plan to their account on a Master Account level, the VodaBucks allocation will go the Master Account Holder after bill payment, and not to the end user(s).

Mega Unlock Games

  1. You can use your VodaBucks to play a Mega Unlock Games game to stand a chance win a prize.

  2. You can play up to 15 Mega Unlock Games using your VodaBucks per day.

  3. Each Mega Unlock game costs 5 VodaBucks. Vodacom reserves the right to change the number of VodaBucks required to play a Mega Unlock Games during the campaign period.

Keys and Treasure Chests

  1. When you play daily Unlock Summer and Mega Unlock Summer games you stand a chance to win keys that you can collect towards opening treasure chests to choose a prize of your choice.

  2. Your key balance will be capped at 25 keys. Once you have reached this limit, you will no longer win keys until you have spent your keys.

  3. Mystery Chests costs 10 keys to unlock and when unlocking this chest, you stand a chance to win a mystery prize. Winning when unlocking mystery chests is not guaranteed.

  4. Level 1 Treasure Chests costs 15 keys to unlock and contains three rewards from which you can choose.

  5. Level 2 Treasure Chest costs 20 keys to unlock and contains three rewards from which you can choose.

  6. Treasure chests contain personalised, discounted offers that you can pay for using your airtime/ by adding to your bill after you have unlocked the using your keys.

  7. Keys will expire at the end of the Unlock Summer promotion.

Rewards and Prizes

  1. You stand a chance to win prizes in the following categories:

    • Free data, voice and integrated bundles

    • Discounts on data, voice and integrated bundles

    • Content-specific bundles and Vodacom Tickets

    • Discounts on Vodacom products and services

    • Cash Prizes

    • Electronics and gadgets

    • Fashion, footwear and accessories

    • Cosmetics, skincare and haircare

    • Wellbeing and fitness

    • Sport & outdoor gear

    • Homeware and household

    • Food and groceries

    • Travel and experiences

    • Luggage and bags

    • VodaBucks to use on a Mega Unlock or in the VodaBucks Store

    • Keys to unlock treasure chests

    Prizes include coupons, discounted offers and conditional-spend offers.

    Coupons are sent via SMS directly to the participating cellphone number and therefore won't be delivered to a physical address.

    Coupons cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash and they expire after a certain period of time which will be communicated via SMS. Coupons are for once off use only, and value of coupon needs to be utilized in the 1 transaction. Any balance remaining will be forfeited.  In addition to this, Vodacom reserves the right to terminate or expire coupons at any time and at their own discretion.

    If there are any issues regarding a coupon not being received, please call Customer Care on 082 135. Once the issue has been confirmed, you will receive your correct coupon within the seven (7) working days. Many of the rewards that are up for grabs in the Unlock Summer promotion are not owned by Vodacom and are provided by a network of strategic partners. Due to this and where necessary, you will be required to direct queries or complaints to these partners accordingly. Redemption of coupons will be governed by the terms related to the specific offer and/or partner.

    Specific Terms and Conditions for partners and/or retailers:

    Mystery Prizes - Electronics / Fashion / Experiences / Getaways

    Should the SMS not be received, or should the link and/or code be faulty, please contact 082 135.

    Confirmation / delivery details will be sent via email with tracking details.

    Vodacom rewards

    Mystery Prize – Bill Settlement

    •    R1000 credit will be automatically loaded and will reflect on the monthly statement.
    •    Only Vodacom Postpaid customers who are currently within their contract period, and who are opted into the 2021/22 Summer campaign, will be eligible to win this reward.
    •    No refunds on the credit amount will be allowed, and the R1000 credit cannot be converted into cash.
    •    Should the R1000 credit not be depleted within the month of allocation, the remaining credit will be carried over to the following month/s until the full R1000 credit has been depleted.
    •    Note on the credit, labelled as “Summer Campaign,” will reflect on the winning customers.
    •    Winning customers will be informed of when the allocated R1000 credit will be applied to their account.

    Voice, data and social media data bundle rewards

    Voice, SMS and data bundle rewards will be allocated immediately to Prepaid, Postpaid and Top-Up customers.

    Bundles will be available to use from allocation (within any specified usage period) and will expire as per the bundle's validity period.

    Unused reward bundles will expire and there will be no carry over or refund, with the exception of data bundles where applicable (as per existing rules regarding data bundle rollover).

    Reward bundles cannot be transferred to other customers, with the exception of data bundles where applicable (as per existing rules regarding data bundle transfer).

    Any usage that falls outside the specified usage period or after the bundle is depleted, will be billed at the customer's applicable price plan rates.

    Vodacom voice minute bundles will specify usage, whether for Vodacom to Vodacom (VC-VC) calls or calls to any South African Network (Any Network).

    The following call types are excluded from the Vodacom voice minute bundles:

    • Conference and video calls to other networks;

    • Call Sponsor: International & roaming calls, Premium rated calls;

    • Value Added Service (VAS) Calls;

    • Call Forwarding;

    • Directory Enquiry;

    • Reconnect Calls Reverse Charge calls General Through Connect (to other networks), Service calls;

    • Message forwarding.

    Vodacom SMS reward bundles can be used for sending SMS to national destinations including "SMS to email" but cannot be sent to international or premium rated numbers or services. One (1) SMS is equivalent to 160 characters, including spaces.

    Data sessions initiated within the specified usage period but terminated outside of the period will deplete from the data reward bundle until the last minute of the stated bundle validity period and the remainder of the session will be billed from an existing active data bundle or at the specified out-of-bundle rate applicable to the customer's price plan.

    Prepaid and Top-Up customers converting to Postpaid price plans or vice versa will not be able to retain their allocated voice minutes, data or SMS reward bundles once the conversion is successfully completed.

    Social media bundles must be used on the specified sites (Facebook, YouTube) in the specified time period for the specified validity period. Usage on these sites outside of these rules will incur costs.

  1. Grand Prize Draws

    When you play a daily Unlock or a Mega Unlock game, you stand a chance to win entries into the Grand Prize Draws. This competition runs from 00h01 (one minute past midnight) on the 30th October ("start date") and ends at 23h59 (one minute before midnight) on the 6th of February 2022 ("end date"). Any entries received after the closing date will not be considered for the competition. The duration of the competition may be changed at the discretion of Vodacom.

    Customers may be entered into the draw multiple times. All customers who have been entered into the Grand Prize Draws, will be eligible to win a Grand Prize/s, unless he/she does not meet the qualifying criteria stipulated below (see Eligibility for Grand Prizes).

    In this case, or if a winner cannot accept the prize for any reason whatsoever, the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant.

    Vodacom will then use all reasonable efforts to contact the winners telephonically (between the working hours of 08h00 and 17h00), on the cell phone numbers used to participate in the competition. Vodacom will attempt to contact the winners for a period of three (3) working days after the draw date and subsequent verification of eligibility (based on the abovementioned exceptions). Should a participant not be available on the contact number during the timeframe stipulated, or should the participant reject, forfeit or decline acceptance of the prize, that person's right to the prize will be deemed to have been waived and the prize will be forfeited. Vodacom reserves the right to then award the prize to the next selected qualifying entrant or carry over the prize to the next month.

    The claim for the prize will be subject to security and validation, failing which, the winner will forfeit the prize and the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant. Vodacom reserves the right to withhold the reward until it is satisfied that the claim is valid. Vodacom may also refuse to award the prize if these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices. Vodacom is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify that they are rejected.

    Publication of winner's details

    Winners will be asked to consent in writing (or telephonically) to their image and/or likeness being used and published by Vodacom in connection with the competition for a period of twelve (12) months after they have been announced as winners. The winner may decline the use of their image and/or likeness by Vodacom.

    If they agree to have their details published, the winner's name and location may be displayed on the Vodacom website, Vodacom social media channels, Vodacom partner channels and/or on screens and in-store TVs within Vodacom-approved sales channels.

    Eligibility for Grand Prizes

    In order to be eligible for a Grand Prize, participants are required to:

     

    • Be in possession of a valid South African ID or valid permanent residence permit valid for a period exceeding 12 (twelve) months for the Republic of South Africa and valid at the end date of the competition.

    • The selected winners must be able to identify themselves (in a manner determined by Vodacom) as the qualifying entrants to the competition and have to comply with the required validation procedure in order to claim the prize.

    • The selected winners must have complied with these Terms and Conditions to enter and be on an active, qualifying contract with no accounts (held with Vodacom) being in arrears.

    • In the event that the user of the mobile phone (i.e. the participant in the competition) is not the person that is responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/existing qualifying contract, the prize will be awarded to the person who is the account holder and responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/existing qualifying contract.

    • In the event that the qualifying contract is a Vodacom Business account and that the user of the mobile phone (i.e. the participant in the competition) is not the person that is responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/existing qualifying contract, then the prize will be awarded to the user of the mobile phone and not to the account holder.

    • Employees, directors and agents of Vodacom and all participating stores, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates and any person directly involved with the sponsoring, devising, production, management or marketing of this competition are not eligible to participate in this competition.

    • The prize is not transferable or exchangeable.

    In the event of a dispute in regard to any aspect of the competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Vodacom's decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

    The following Grand Prizes are up for grabs over the duration of the Unlock Summer promotion:

    • Three (3) customers will each win a Kia Rio (TEC Manual / Sunroof / model year 2021). The vehicle is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
    • Fifty (50) customers will win a Honda scooter (specifications tbc). The scooter is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
    • Twenty four (24) customers will each win a cash prize worth R50 000 (fifty thousand rand). Participants are only eligible for one cash prize per winning customer.
    • One thousand eight hundred (1800) customers will win each win five thousand (5000) VodaBucks.
    • One thousand two hundred (1200) customers will each win data for a year (20GB of data per month for 12 months). Participants are only eligible for one prize per winning customer.

    Grand Prize draws will take place on the following dates:
    •    1 December 2021 (entries from 00:00:01 on 30 October 2021 – 23:59:59 on 30 November 2021)
    •    3 January 2022 (entries from 00:00:01 on 1 December 2021 – 23:59:59 on 31 December 2021)
    •    7 February 2022 (entries from 00:00:01 on 1 January 2022 – 23:59:59 on 6 February 2022)

    All pictures and images of products and/or rewards displayed are for illustrative purposes only. Details of a reward are stipulated in the description. Any additional items or features included in the product image are not included.

VodaBucks Store

  1. All customers can use their VodaBucks to purchase from an online store within the Unlock Summer menu on the My Vodacom App.

  2. Should you wish to return a product for reasons other than out-of-box failures, please email [email protected] to log the return. The item will be collected from you and it will be determined whether the item is in a suitable condition to be replaced/refunded.

Connect 4 Good

  1. You will receive the option purchase items from the VodaBucks Store that will be donated to a Vodacom Foundation charity.

  2. Donated items purchased by customers from the VodaBucks Store will be donated to the selected charity at the end of the Vodacom Unlock Summer promotion.
  3. Vodacom reserves the right to amend and or modify these terms and condition. Where such change is material, Vodacom will provide you with reasonable prior notice before any such change comes into effect.
