      Secure Remote Access

      What is Secure Remote Access?

Increased connectivity and worker mobility is leading to the breakdown of the traditional network perimeter, and both are contributing to sensitive data being shared with people and systems within and outside organisations. This trend requires different individuals and departments to have controlled access to data, while ensuring disclosure requirements comply and are managed in accordance with corporate governance controls.

Authenticating users has become a security best practice, but once is not enough. Public-key infrastructure (PKI) authenticate the user at first logon but leave the session open to hacker attacks. With continuous mutual authentication and encryption during every transmission between client and server, 2-factor authentication reduces the potential for data theft and fraud, by closing the window of opportunity for hackers.

Our 2-factor authentication SSL VPN utilises best-of-breed appliances to ensure end-to-end secure connectivity into your environment. Coupled with our mobile experience, it delivers a fully converged solution through any device with Internet capabilities. There’s no client software required thus making it a truly clientless SSL VPN.

      Frequently asked questions

No, some Wi-Fi networks do not allow the ability to make calls. Vodacom does not have control over such Wi-Fi networks.

Please follow the steps in the documents below depending whether you are using an Android or iOS device:

To check if your device is enabled for WiFi calling, click here

When calling from South Africa, Wi-Fi calls can be made where Vodacom cellular network is minimal or absent. This applies even when your device is connected to a Wi-Fi connection.

When calling from abroad, Wi-Fi calls can be made when connected to a Wi-Fi network that permits WiFi calling, regardless of cellular network strength.

        • You pay less for calls, even when roaming in another country. For as long as you are connected to a Wi-Fi
network, Wi-Fi calling allows you to make calls and send SMSs at South African rates.
        • It allows you to make calls when you have a stronger Wi-Fi connection compared to your standard
        network connection.
        • Wi-Fi calls use any available voice minutes or they get charged at current voice rates. No special bundles
        are needed to make calls.
        • You can call any number, whether landline or cellular, unlike other over-the-top providers. Example
        Skype and WhatsApp.
        • You will not experience dropped calls when moving from a WiFi covered area to an LTE covered area.

Wi-Fi calling provides you with the ability to make calls over a Wi-Fi connection.

Wi-Fi calls are charged and billed at local call rates. Calls will deplete from your available minutes or they will be charged at out-of-bundle rates, where applicable. Sending SMSs over Wi-Fi is billed from available SMS bundles or charged at out-of-bundle rates, where applicable. This applies even when abroad and connected to a Wi-Fi network which allows for voice calls.

Data charges will only be billed to the public or private Wi-Fi network that you are connected to.

No, you can only have one of these services active at a time. Wi-Fi Calling cannot be activated while international roaming is activated and vice versa.
